  1. [Part #1,of three + picture] The "way too amazing story", as Barbara B. said is rite here in my head. I'll tell it. Ray never signed autographs so I have pix as verification. Ray never took song request ether but he did that night. That's what the story is about. Starts early at the concert cause The Ray Charles Band plays jazz to warm up for at least an hour before Ray even comes on stage. One has to know to get there early to hear the best music ever. Like a concert within a concert and my entourage was doing a little warming up ourselves --- this was UGA, 1967. Philip Gilbru on trumpet, Hank Crawford on baritone sax, and David 'fathead' Newman on tenor. Also, Joe Adams, Ray's announcer and master of ceremonies, was up on stage talking to someone. The entire band was there. We were there... first ones at the new coliseum and right on the first row.
