in Just For A Thrill.
This concert took place at the Grosser Festsaal in Basel on 10 November 2000. The concert was the 15th AVO session in Basel (called after cigarette manufacturer AVO Uverzian).
I've seen an excellent video copy of a broadcast by 3Sat (air date June 30, 2001). Amazing how Charles, aged 70 here, worked around his voice limitations, delivering the songs - despite a few cracks - with the energy of a much younger Brother Ray (at the show's final the old man even went through his knees a few times, taking his applause, as if he was 40).

Personnel:
Musicians:
Ted Murdock, David Hoffman, Ken Scharf - trumpets; Larry Foyen - trumpet, flugel horn; Steve Sigmund, Michel Guerrier, Dupor D Georges -  trombones; Wayne Coniglio - bass trombone;  Al Jackson - alto saxophone, band leader; Rudy Johnson - alto saxophone; Craig Bailey, Keith Loftis - tenor saxophones; Terrene Goss - baritone saxophone; Brad Rabuchin - guitar; Tom Fowler - bass;  Peter Turre - drums;  Ernest Vantrease - organ. The Raelettes: Estelle Yarbrough, Renée Collins Georges, Tangy Biggers, Karen Evans.
