The ESPY Awards is an annual awards event created and broadcast by American cable television network ESPN. Begun in 1993, the event confers eponymous awards, fully styled as Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards, for individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance during the calendar year preceding a given ceremony.
Ray was featured in The 1997 ESPY Awards on February 9th. The show was aired live from Radio City Hall in New York, directed by Bruce Gowers and hosted by Jeff Foxworthym. The Genius performed Let The Good Times Roll, and had an interaction with Muhammad Ali.

Let The Good Times Roll:

Ray met composer John Colby at the event. Colby's caption to this photo: Ray Charles... my musical hero... at an ESPY rehearsal in Radio City NYC in 1997. I had just told Ray that if it weren't for him, this white boy would not be a musician... he loved it.
