Waiting in the Wings: African Americans In Country Music, first aired by CMT on 22 February 2004, documents more than a century of contributions of African-Americans to country music and questions why the genre historically has included few African-American artists. The 90 minute programme includes comments by Ray Charles, Charley Pride, Arsenio Hall, Hank Williams Jr., Marty Stuart, Chris Cagle, Naomi Judd and Cleve Francis, and it also profiles five young African-American country artists.
