In June 1986 (4 years before the famous Uh-huh campaign) Pepsi launched the radio campaign Pepsi Presents The Best Of A New Generation, created by BBDO. The campaign encompassed a series of 60-second spots, narrated by Ray Charles. Each spot featured a segment of a new, full-length song performed by Ray, but the songs "had nothing to do with the product; only his narration alluded to" the brand.
This clipping tells a different story, revealing that Ray briefly spoke with musical talents; after that the new 'stars' showcased their talent with a song.
Who knows more?
