This was the theme song of Norman Jewison's blockbuster with the same title, with Steve McQueen, Ann-Margret, Karl Malden, Tuesday Weld, Edward G. Robinson, a.o.
The score was written by Lalo Schifrin, lyrics were penned by Dorcas Cochran.
The 7th track of the elpee, an instrumental version of The Cincinnati Kid, was also recorded on July 22, along with the Ray Charles song (track 1). Ray probably did not contribute to this instrumental, nor to the instrumental backing of the title song. Fact is that Schifrin recorded another instrumental version of the film's main theme with a jazz quartet (bass, drum and guitar, along with Schifrin himself on piano) at the end of the original soundtrack sessions. This version made its debut as a bonus track on the FSM release in 2010. Source: here.
