Swing A Little Taste (With The Ray Charles Orchestra)

Album: Ray Charles Live In Concert, ABC/Paramount 500, January 1965.

Ray and the band never recorded this great instrumental in the studio studio. The tune was written by Julian Priester (who, oddly, seems to have missed the two recordings during his stay at the band, in 1964 - the one in the UK taped several months earlier than the rendition at the famous Shrine concert).

The line-up at the Shrine Auditorium was: Ray Charles - vocals, piano, organ; Oliver Beener, Roy Burrows, Phil Guilbeau, Floyd Jones - trumpet; James Lee Harbert, Fred Murrell, Juan Tizol - trombone; Keg Johnson - bass trombone; Harold Minerve, ?Dan Turner? - alto saxophone, James Clay - tenor saxophone; David Newman - tenor saxophone, flute; Leroy Cooper - baritone saxophone; Don Peake - guitar; Edgar Willis - bass; Wilbert Hogan - drums. Clarence McDonald was second man on keyboards.
