On Ain't It So Ray returned to his sandwich formula, combining strings and blues. Some Enchanted Evening got a treatment that worked out fine. Most of the album thrives on Ray's R&B, blues and jazz strengths. Barry Manilow wrote One Of These Days for Charles, and even that's a marvelous track.

Recorded at RPM International in Los Angeles with uncredited members of the Ray Charles Orchestra and session musicians. From the band, Peter Turre played drums on the first 3 tracks, Gregg Field on most or all of the other tracks, and Clifford Solomon filled in the tenor sax solos on tracks #1 and #4.* Arrangers: Sid Feller, Larry Mohuberac, James Polk, Harry Goodnight.

Crossover/Atlantic 19251, 1979-09.
* Information kindly provided by Steve Sigmund and Peter Turre.
